locatio-apulia- oria-Jewish Quarters and Ghettos

Narrow streets in the old city, Oria

One of the city gates, Porta degli Ebrei (also known as Porta Taranto), erected in the 15th century in the western part of town, led into the former Jewish quarter. The gate features a large bronze menorah. The former Giudecca, established by Filippo II, Prince of Taranto, is today known as Santa Giudea.
