Eugenio Salomon Camerini (1811-1875), a major Dante scholar of his time, later moved to Naples and took part in the Risorgimento and the unification of Italy.

R. Metatiah Nissim was the Chief Rabbi in Senigallia in the late 18th century.

He wrote poetry, prose as well as R.Ya’akov Ha-Cohen, a cronicle in Hebrew, preserved at the Jewish Theological Seminar in New York. He later wrote Sefer Ma’asè Nissim, describing the life of the Jews of Ancona between 1793-1797.
